Our Values
Naturesense Gardens follows these 6 key principles
Seasonal Flux
Any maintenance is sensitive to the plants specific requirements over a year. Design picks up on seasonal variance and enhances our relationship with the natural ebbs and flows of seasonal transitions.

Sensual Experience
Plays with both the tactile textures and intangible qualities in a natural setting to enhance real experience.

Beauty
Connecting with stunning visuals in a garden; from one flower to a combination of plants to a view manipulated from various garden features and positions of spaces. Noticing beauty is inspiring, noticing ourselves in that beauty is illuminating.

Wildlife Friendly
Functions to encourage, protect and celebrate the flora and fauna in the garden and connects to further landscape through green corridors.

Edible
Uses and teaches how we use plants for culinary purposes as a way of strengthening our engagement and connection to nature.

Personal
Full of memory, nostalgia and connection unique to the clients.
Founders Introduction
Luke Hitchins
It was perhaps the legacy of my Gardening Grandad which sparked a career path to be trodden enthusiastically down the horticultural route. Memories of Grandad Robin proudly preparing and exhibiting his floral masterpieces at the Church Hall’s annual Spring flower show flourish in my mind every time new Daffodil buds burst and sing each Spring. It was during a period of time working for a cob building company in the rolling hills of East Devon where Grandad had lived, when I decided upon a switch from the previous studies of Architecture to a more spiritually satisfying Landscape Architecture.A Masters degree in Landscape Architecture gained I set to work using the newly gained skills in Landscape theory, computer aided design and photoshop to support and
contribute to a busy team of designers.
Not long in to this time with the Landscape professionals however and a truer calling was evident. I became frustrated at pixel generated trees being dragged around a screen being used to design places of what I felt should be nature connection. I felt it was required to get to know the natural things more intimately to know how to represent their beauty for human experience.
I love with every sinew my time spent ‘getting to know’ nature and plants as I manage my own gardening business. Evolving with the nature around me, ideas and philosophies gain momentum. I truly believe If you engage with your garden, you enhance your life. I want my clients to become inspired by their gardens, I want them to feel at peace in them, to feel like they are home and yet connected to something larger.’
